Position Summary

  • Working within a multi-disciplined engineering team in a small to medium volume manufacturing environment, providing Facilities Engineering cover throughout the Group.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Scheduling and execution of all required servicing and maintenance of plant, services and equipment and maintenance of corresponding equipment records.

  • To report on any plant and equipment installation deterioration and recommend required action.

  • Co-ordination where required of all external contractors when on site ensuring the work is carried out safely and to the required standard.

  • Carry out reactive mechanical and electrical works and day to day engineering duties as specified by your manager ensuring plant, equipment and services are maintained at appropriate times to suit the business.

  • Ability to fix minor issues and faults that do not require external contractors.

  • Coordinate the upkeep of the buildings and grounds for all sites.

  • Responsible for ensuring provision of utilities (Excluding communications) to all sites and liaison with chosen providers in relation to contract renewal, submission of meter readings etc.

  • Make recommendation on new or renewing service contracts to the line manager in support of business needs ensuring continued provision of building services whilst ensuring maximum value for money to the business(s).

  • Point of contact for all building maintenance issues for tenants occupying buildings owned but not occupied by the Gill group.

  • Ensure good Health and Safety working practices complying with appropriate policies.

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of building improvement works as required.

Position Requirements

  • Multi-skilled maintenance background preferably in an electro-mechanical manufacturing environment.

  • A formal qualification in an electrical or mechanical engineering subject (apprentice served, NVQ, HNC or equivalent)

  • Experience of fault finding on facilities equipment

  • Experience of both reactive and preventative maintenance

  • Able to demonstrate a reasonable knowledge of statutory health and safety requirements.

  • Assist with other activities as assigned in support of the business needs and objectives.

  • Diverse and flexible multi-skilled worker with a strong customer service focus, able to work both autonomously and in a dynamic environment

  • Excellent social and communication skills
