The company is an ambitious privately owned B2B business selling precision electronic devices around the world from its base in Hampshire. It has a turnover of £10m, has been investing in a growing product range, and has a reputation as a world leader in its field.

Position Summary

This forward thinking business is looking to appoint an IT Systems Support Engineer with proven hands-on experience. Working in a VMware hosted MS environment, the successful candidate will bring their skills and expertise to a team supporting 30+ servers and 150+ users across 3 local sites in all aspects of IT. The candidate will require practical experience supporting a range of Hardware, Application and TCPIP Networking technologies with the skills to troubleshoot and quickly resolve any related issues.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Managing VMware vSphere Servers

  • Monitoring Firewall Security

  • Managing Active Directory Health, Users, Groups, GPO’s

  • Monitoring TCP/IP LAN and WiFi health and performance

  • End User support via telephone, deskside or remote desktop

  • Email administration

  • Design, implement and regularly testing Backups and DR plans

  • Software support Inc. Solidworks CAD, Sage Accounts, Syspro MRP, Atlassian Confluence

  • Continuous awareness of Web, Email and Security threats

  • Software Updates and Patches

  • Maintaining accurate IT documentation (including assets, licencing and procedures)

  • IT Procurement of Hardware and Consumables

  • Manage Equipment repurpose or disposal

  • Database Reporting

Position Requirements

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 (plus Legacy)

  • VMware vSphere 6 with vCSA

  • Active Directory, GPOs, WSUS, ACL Permissions, DFS

  • Veeam Backup and Recovery

  • Windows Desktop support (7, 8.1, 10)

  • MS Office Application support (2010, 2013)

  • TCP/IP Networking knowledge Inc. Routing, VLANS, Managed Switches, VPN

  • General Hardware Support Inc. RAID etc


  • Certification (MS, CompTIA)

  • Visual Studio (MS Access/SQL/Crystal Reports)

  • MS CRM

  • Linux knowledge

  • Spiceworks App knowledge
