In particular, the design and manufacture of ultrasonic wind instrumentation and professional weather stations, associated communications and software, which are used by industry and national weather services world-wide for weather prediction, modelling and research.

With headquarters in Lymington UK and approximately 80 employees, we supply products globally, both direct and via a network of distributors. Core product ranges include: Ultrasonic Anemometers; Weather Stations; Remote Communications, Web Software.

Position Summary

Working within a multi-disciplined engineering team in a small to medium volume manufacturing environment, and participating in the design, development and continuous improvement of new and existing products.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Manage the efficient operation of the Production Engineering Department including mechanical engineering.

  • Responsible for the control of Drawing Office updates, documentation, issue number management and work instruction generation

  • Acceptance of new design proposals into production in liaison with Project team.

  • Liaison with design engineers (Gill Research & Development Limited)

  • Taking PCB information from design engineers and introducing into Surface Mount Department

  • Validate delivery of new products into Manufacturing

  • Setting up new production lines

  • MRP maintenance, BoM’s and routings

  • Review and improve manufacturing processes

  • Support of Purchasing for new and alternative component acceptance

  • Support of Goods Inwards for acceptance or rejection of non-conforming goods

Position Requirements

  • Degree, or equivalent, in relevant Engineering discipline

  • Strong electromechanical experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Engineering team leadership experience

  • Surface mount experience

  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • ERP/MRP systems experience

  • Problem solving skills

  • Ability to prioritise

  • Proficiency with standard computer applications

Additional Advantageous Experience

  • Experience with electronic based sensors incorporating embedded firmware

Person Specification

  • Organised and self-motivated individual with initiative

  • Flexible and able to work both autonomously and in a dynamic environment

  • Excellent social and communication skills
