The Gill Group of companies includes Gill Research & Development, Sensors & Controls and Gill Instruments.  The Group is an ambitious and growing privately-owned designer and manufacturer of specialist sensors and weather instrumentation equipment.  Gill products are used in demanding and advanced technology industries around the world, including construction, motorsport, marine, aeronautical, defence, and material handling.

As part of the strategy, the Group is re-focussing the Quality team and introducing data driven control and management methodology throughout the group.  The company is seeking a Quality Engineer who has worked within quality improvement programs that have resulted in delivering a proactive value adding quality focussed culture within design and manufacturing industries.  This is an exciting opportunity to join the company for the transitional period, which could lead to a full time appointment.

Position Summary

The position is responsible to the Senior Quality Engineer. The key responsibilities include:

  • Strong working knowledge of QMS, ISO 9001:2015, 14001, and ATEX/IECEx.

  • To play a role in Process Improvement Groups, to provide training, advice and practical assistance in the implementation of agreed process improvements, defect root cause analysis and investigation.

  • Comply with and update as required Gill’s Quality Management System, Health and Safety and other legislative international approvals, policies and procedures.

  • To perform Quality Assurance, Control and Audit activities during all stages of the project life cycle, and covering relevant international standards.

  • Play an active role in data collection and reporting systems to identify early warning of non-conforming processes or products throughout the supply chain and value stream, examples Test Yields, Supplier NC, FQA, Returns.

  • To participate in information-driven process improvement projects involving Supplier Quality, Production, Test, and Customer returns.

  • Train employees and stakeholders (Suppliers, Customers) on the elements regarding their interface with Gill companies.  Report and feedback results, preventive and corrective actions required/undertaken as necessary.

  • Implement Quality diagnostic, investigation and monitoring tools to ensure Process Improvements Programs are delivering required results.  Train users on these tools.

  • To work within a team environment, providing guidance, advice and assistance as required.

  • Maintain reporting metrics and KPIs, examples, First Time Test Yields, RMA, VoC.

Position Requirements

  • Relevant qualification and experience in Engineering or Quality Engineering.

  • Working knowledge of QMS, ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001.

  • Experience as a Quality / Process Engineer in a manufacturing and design industry.

  • Track record of implementing and driving measurable process and yield improvement programs.

  • Ability to engage throughout a multi-functional operation.

  • Well organised, self motivated and methodical.

  • Experience of implementing changes and/or managing projects towards high performance.

  • Ability to achieve results in a fast moving, technological environment.

  • Fluent with MS Office for report writing and KPI reporting.
