Position Summary

Working within the Surface Mount Department as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team, in a small to medium volume manufacturing environment, supporting both current production and the introduction of new designs into production.

Specific Requirements

  • Provide process knowledge and advice for surface mount assembly and other soldering processes.

  • Programing and operation of SMT equipment Screen Printers, AOI, Reflow ovens, Selective Solder, and Placement equipment.

  • Generation of process instructions for SMT operation staff

  • Through the use of SPC data, lead improvements in process yield, quality, cycle time, inventory accuracy.

  • Perform defect and failure analyses for Surface Mount Technology.

  • Diagnose and execute repairs to assembly line electrical and mechanical equipment to a component level including requisitioning of replacement parts.

  • Develop and execute predictive, preventative procedures on assembly line equipment and aligning these procedures to the equipment manufacturer requirements.

Position Requirements

  • Formal qualification in electronics or closely related subject.

  • Strong surface mount process and technologies experience

  • Lean manufacturing experience

  • ERP/MRP systems experience

  • Problem solving skills

  • IPC-A-610 Standards awareness.

  • Ability to prioritise

  • Proficiency with standard computer applications

Additional Advantageous Experience

  • Experience with Samsung pick and place surface mount machines.

  • Organised and self-motivated individual with initiative

  • Flexible and able to work both autonomously and in a dynamic environment

  • Excellent social and communication skills

  • Relevant qualification desirable
