Gill Instruments Extend MetPak Weather Station Range Capabilities

The MetPak range of multi-sensor weather stations by Gill Instruments has been extended to include Base Station variants, remote ultrasonic wind sensor options and a new optional tipping bucket rain gauge.

Gill Instruments Ltd, a world leader in ultrasonic research anemometers, ultrasonic wind sensors and weather stations, has expanded its range of MetPak and MetPak Pro compact weather stations with the launch of the new MetPak RG and Base Station variants.

In addition to the standard MetPak range, customers can now select a MetPak base station with one of Gill’s wide range of 2-axis or 3-axis ultrasonic wind sensors, which can be remotely positioned to meet WMO recommendations or customer specific requirements.

Customers can select wind sensors from the Gill range to meet their exact requirements which may include integeral wind sensor heating, 3-axis wind measurement or high wind speed measurement up to 75 m/s. Gill’s range of wind sensors are particularly suited to extreme operating conditions including marine, off-shore and Polar applications.

The range revamp includes the launch of the MetPak RG – a low cost, highly accurate, multi-sensor weather station. The new unit offers all the advantages of MetPak with an additional input for a tipping bucket rain gauge providing professional quality precipitation data.

MetPak RG is designed with an aerodynamic tipping bucket rain gauge and is supplied with a six metre cable for remote mounting. The rain gauge features a typical 0.2mm resolution and is capable of measuring precipitation to an accuracy of +2%. As the rain gauge is remotely positioned, it will not influence other outputs, making measurement as accurate as possible.

To further improve accuracy the rain gauge is individually factory calibrated to the MetPak, ensuring excellent data quality. The sensor is supplied with MetSet configuration software offering intuitive data logging displays and complete adjustable output control.

Full details about the MetPak Base station options are now available on the Gill Instruments website alongside the full range of other MetPak configuration options. Gill has also produced a video that introduces the capabilities of the MetPak weather station range.
