New Low Voltage Power & Communication Interface for WindObserver Intrinsically Safe Anemometer

The Gill Instruments WindObserver Intrinsically Safe anemometer is now even easier to install following the launch of a new Low Voltage Power Communications Interface (LVPCI).

LVPCI is the new alternative to the standard Gill Power Communications Interface (PCI) and both can be installed with the WindObserver IS, which is the only ultrasonic anemometer approved for installation inside hazardous or explosive atmospheres. The system provides wind speed and direction data for use in producing offshore meteorological observations in accordance with UK CAA CAP 437.

The LVPCI makes it easy for installers to integrate into their own power distribution systems as it requires no ac voltage and the whole system requires no regular maintenance, which reduces in-service costs.

The LVPCI eliminates the need for a direct mains supply. Weighing only 2.5kg, the new generation LVPCI is 20% smaller and almost 75% lighter than the standard PCI.

“We aim to produce high quality, easy to install systems, which require no regular maintenance.” says Paul Rogers, Head of Sales. “The new LVPCI accepts dc voltage and is lightweight and flexible making it easy for installers to integrate into their main power distribution systems.”

The WindObserver IS and LVPCI are accredited to globally recognised IECEx and ATEX standards and can be installed into a range of applications including offshore rigs, processing plants and supply vessels, gas pipelines, chemical plants and aviation.
