The Update

Modbus communication support, now available for WindObserver.

WindObserver has been trusted across marine, offshore, infrastructure and industrial environments for decades. From late June, the WO65 and WO75 will be available with Modbus communication support, making it easier to integrate directly into the industrial and environmental control architectures where Modbus is the standard.

Simplified integration

Connects directly into Modbus-based control systems without additional protocol conversion hardware.

Reduced integration complexity

Removes the need for gateways and intermediary devices in Modbus-native environments.

Same proven platform

Ultrasonic wind measurement with no moving parts, stainless steel construction, and optional heating.

Applications

Where Modbus integration matters most.

Modbus is the established protocol across a wide range of industrial and environmental sectors. WindObserver with Modbus support is designed for environments where native protocol compatibility is a specification requirement, not an afterthought.

SCADA & Industrial Automation

Direct integration into control systems

Where Modbus is the default protocol across a site's control infrastructure, WindObserver now integrates without gateway hardware. Suitable for plant monitoring, process control and industrial automation environments.

Marine & Offshore

Vessel and platform monitoring

WindObserver is already trusted on vessels, platforms and offshore structures. Modbus support extends compatibility with marine SCADA and vessel management systems where Modbus is standard.

Environmental Monitoring

Monitoring networks and data acquisition

Environmental monitoring deployments increasingly use standardised communication architectures. Modbus support simplifies wind data acquisition into existing telemetry and data logging infrastructure.

Transport & Infrastructure

Roads, railways and ports

Transport infrastructure projects frequently specify Modbus for wind measurement integration into broader site management systems. WindObserver with Modbus support meets that requirement directly.

Utilities & Power

Grid, generation and distribution sites

Power generation and utility infrastructure rely on Modbus across substations, generation sites and distribution networks. WindObserver now speaks directly into those environments.

OEM & System Integrators

Embedded and integrated solutions

OEMs and system integrators specifying wind measurement for Modbus-native platforms can now include WindObserver without additional protocol translation. Reduces bill of materials and integration time.

Important: new units only

Modbus communication support is available on new WO65 and WO75 units ordered from late June 2026. Existing WindObserver units cannot be retrofitted or upgraded to add Modbus capability. If you are planning a new specification or replacement purchase and require Modbus, please register your interest below and our team will be in touch with availability, ordering information and lead times.
