Gill Instruments Reveals Improved Sonic Temperature Performance at AMS 2015
Gill Instruments will be exhibiting at the 95th AMS Annual Meeting from 4-8 January 2015 in Phoenix, Arizona.
At AMS Gill will announce improvements in sonic temperature performance made throughout their range of industry leading 3-axis anemometers.
Gill 3-axis anemometers consistently out-perform other sonic anemometers in the measurement of 3-dimensional wind vectors and sensible heat fluxes and now following recent improvements all Gill 3-axis anemometers can benefit from improved sonic temperature performance.
Gains are the result of research using computational fluid dynamics and changes to the transducer stalk assembly processes. However for continuity, the transducer and stalk profile remains the same and wind measurements are not impacted.
Richard McKay, Gill Product Manager and Meteorologist reports “the gains we have made using CFD and assembly process improvements are small yet significant in the performance of sonic temperature throughout the 3-axis range. A key advantage is that these improvements maintain the continuity of design and we now have high performance in all conditions”.
To demonstrate the technical improvements, Richard McKay will be delivering a poster presentation entitled ‘Improvements in cold weather condition flux measurements with Gill 3-Axis Ultrasonic Anemometers’ at AMS on Wednesday 7th January between 14:00 and 16:00.
In addition to Gill’s anemometers, Gill will be displaying MaxiMet, their new range of compact weather stations to suit multiple application requirements which combines precipitation, solar radiation, wind, temperature, humidity and pressure, GPS and compass measurements.

MaxiMet achieves major focus at Met Tech 2014
Gill Instruments was recently an official sponsor at the World’s largest meteorological technology exhibition in Brussels at which the company also launched MaxiMet, a new range of compact weather stations.
Met Tech 2014 provided the best platform to launch the new station, which received an incredible amount of interest from visitors. Combining Gill’s quality and reliability, MaxiMet is an easy-to-use and cost-effective range of weather stations suitable for applications such as road conditions, solar and wind energy, building controls and agricultural.
Visitors were among the first to see the full range of nine MaxiMet options as well as Gill’s range of ultrasonic anemometers which is the largest in the World.

Additionally, Gill is actively involved with the various communities working to solve many of today’s measurement challenges. As an example, agricultural users may have a very low power, small footprint station available with many more parameters helping ensure better yield and utilisation of resources while enduring sometimes harsh, vibration or other extreme environmental conditions with the highest reliability. From providing automatic Sunrise/Sunset/Mean Sea Level Pressure information based on GPS location to quality assurance checks when installed in operational networks, MaxiMet provides data that is intuitively available today to a more diverse market.There are a lot of competitive products already on the market – What sets MaxiMet apart? The combination of technology included together with a better user experience. MaxiMet provides the widest range of derived parameters to ease of connection and user interface options. Gill launches MaxiMet –a new range of compact weather stations
Gill Instruments Limited, a leading meteorological and environmental solutions provider, will launch MaxiMet, a new range of compact weather stations at the Meteorological Technology World Expo 2014.

Applications such as road weather, solar and wind energy, building controls, agriculture and many more will now be able to take advantage of the widest range of parameters available in any compact weather station.
Visitors to the Gill Instruments stand will have the first chance to see the new range, which will be available from the New Year.
The MaxiMet range will be launched with 9 variants, allowing users to choose measurement parameters and communications protocols to suit different requirements. Instrumentation includes options for precipitation, solar radiation, wind, temperature, humidity and pressure, as well as GPS and compass. There are many other selectable parameters and every option in the range includes the new low power ‘Eco Mode’ and Bluetooth for wireless communications.
