WEATHER STATION FINDER

Fifteen variants should not mean fifteen datasheets

Answer three questions. We will narrow the range.

MaxiMet, MaxiMet Marine, MaxiMet heat stress and MetConnect, compared on what matters for your site. The finder shows the variants suited to your deployment and is straight about what each one does not cover.

15Variants in the range

40+Years in ultrasonic measurement

Tell us where it’s going and what you need to measure. We’ll narrow the choice to the variants most suited to your site.

Step 1 of 3

Where will the weather station be deployed?

Pick the closest match. This helps us narrow the options based on environment, IP rating and typical accuracy needs. If none of these describe your deployment exactly, pick the nearest fit and our team can confirm the right model with you.

Step 2 of 3

What parameters do you need to measure?

Select all that apply. You can always add more later, but this filters to models that carry those sensors built in.

Step 3 of 3

Any specific deployment requirements?

Select any that apply. Skip this step if your deployment is a standard installation.

HOW TO CHOOSE

Three ways into the range

By what you measure

Start from the parameters the site actually needs. Wind, temperature, humidity, pressure, rainfall, solar radiation and heat stress are all covered somewhere in the range, but no single station carries every one.

By where it goes

Deployment environment narrows the range faster than parameter count. Marine sites need IP68 and a compass. Cold climates need heating. Compact OEM builds rule out the reference-grade units.

Compact ultrasonic wind station with 2-axis compass. For sites that need wind speed and direction only, without the weight or cost of a full met package. Typically specified for smart cities, transport and travel, defence and security, industrial. Datasheet.

Compact wind and rainfall station. Ultrasonic wind plus integrated optical precipitation, without temperature or pressure sensors. For sites already metering those separately. Typically specified for smart cities, transport and travel, industrial, agriculture. Datasheet.

Compact met station without wind. Temperature, humidity and pressure only. The simplest MaxiMet for sites that do not need wind measurement. Typically specified for smart cities, agriculture, industrial, transport and travel. Datasheet.

Compact solar radiation sensor. ISO 9060 Class C pyranometer in a low-power, single-unit form factor for solar site monitoring and irradiance research. Typically specified for agriculture, renewable energy, industrial, research and meteorology. Datasheet.

Met station with integrated optical rainfall sensor, no wind. Temperature, humidity, pressure and rainfall (0-300 mm/hr) in a compact unit. Typically specified for agriculture, smart cities, research and meteorology, industrial. Datasheet.

The standard MaxiMet. Wind plus full meteorological parameters in one integrated unit. Optional heating extends operation to -40°C. Typically specified for smart cities, agriculture, transport and travel, industrial. Datasheet.

GMX500 plus integrated solar radiation measurement. The go-to for solar site monitoring and renewable energy applications. Typically specified for renewable energy, research and meteorology, agriculture, smart cities. Datasheet.

The most comprehensive integrated MaxiMet. Full met plus solar and rainfall (optical or tipping bucket). Reference-grade in a single unit. Typically specified for research and meteorology, renewable energy, agriculture. Datasheet.

New for 2026. Wind plus full met, calculating both WBGT and Thermal Work Limit on board for occupational heat stress. The WBGT calculation is in accordance with ISO 7243:2017, with operation up to 70°C, so the assessment happens in the sensor rather than in a spreadsheet afterwards. Typically specified for industrial, defence and security, transport and travel, smart cities. Datasheet.

The newest MaxiMet. Wind and full met with the high-accuracy optical precipitation sensor from TruMet PW100 (≤5% accuracy, 0.1 mm tip size). An upgrade on the GMX600 precipitation performance. Typically specified for smart cities, agriculture, transport and travel, industrial, research and meteorology. Datasheet.

Wind plus full met parameters with integrated optical rainfall sensor (0-300 mm/hr). The established choice for full weather monitoring. Consider GMX603 for higher-accuracy precipitation measurement. Typically specified for smart cities, agriculture, transport and travel, industrial, research and meteorology. Datasheet.

IP66 and IP68 rated marine wind station with 6-axis compass. Based on the GMX200 with extra environmental protection including temporary submersion. Typically specified for marine and offshore, defence and security. Datasheet.

IP66 and IP68 marine station with wind plus full met parameters and 6-axis compass. Calculates true wind on-board. Optional heating for cold waters. Typically specified for marine and offshore, defence and security. Datasheet.

Reference-grade flexible weather station with integrated WindSonic anemometer. Four measured parameters plus three M12 inputs for user-selected sensors. Used by national weather services and global multinationals. Typically specified for research and meteorology, renewable energy, industrial. Datasheet.

Reference-grade flexible weather station without integrated wind. Three integrated met parameters plus four inputs for your choice of remote anemometer and additional sensors. Cold-climate capable when paired with a heated WindObserver or WindSonic M. Typically specified for research and meteorology, renewable energy, industrial. Datasheet.

ENGINEERING QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between MaxiMet and MetConnect?

MaxiMet is an all-in-one compact station: the sensors sit in a single integrated housing, so there is one item to mount, one cable to run and one calibration to manage. MetConnect is a modular reference-grade approach, where individual sensors are combined to hit a specific accuracy requirement. The practical test is whether you are optimising for installation simplicity or for measurement accuracy against a standard. Most commercial monitoring goes MaxiMet. Reference and compliance work goes MetConnect.

Do I need MetConnect One or MetConnect THP?

They are two products, not one specification with options. MetConnect One includes an integrated wind sensor. MetConnect THP does not, so wind comes from a separate sensor of your choosing. This also changes cold-climate behaviour, because the heating arrangement differs between the two. If the site freezes, raise it with our team before ordering.

Can any MaxiMet measure rainfall accurately?

Several variants include a rain sensor, but there is a real difference between a rain indicator and a measuring precipitation sensor. If rainfall quantity matters rather than simply detecting that it is raining, check the accuracy figure in the spec table rather than the presence of the feature. Where higher precipitation accuracy is needed, GMX551 and both MetConnect variants pair with the TruMet PW100 optical rain gauge. The finder flags that pairing when you ask for rainfall and the matched station cannot deliver it on its own.

Is heating on a MaxiMet the same as heating on a WindSonic M?

No, and this is a common over-specification. Heating on MaxiMet is transducer heating, which is low power and keeps the ultrasonic path clear. WindSonic M carries 100W full-sensor heating, which is a different job for a different climate. Specify the MaxiMet option for cold operation and the WindSonic M for sustained icing.
