Every reading traced back to the national standard
Reliable measurement starts with the instrument, but some applications also require documented evidence that its readings can be trusted. Gill products are tested and calibrated through the relevant product processes. For customers who need additional calibration evidence, the Group offers traceable calibration options for specified products and independent UKAS-accredited calibration services through Labcal. Labcal is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 under UKAS Lab 0625. It calibrates suitable instruments from Gill and other manufacturers across six measurement parameters, within its accredited scope.
Different requirements. Different calibration routes.
The appropriate approach depends on the instrument, the application and the evidence required.

Product testing and calibration
Gill product testing, calibration and repair
Gill instruments are tested and calibrated as part of the relevant product processes. This supports product performance and quality before instruments enter service.
Where additional traceable calibration is available as a product option, the applicable product documentation sets out what can be supplied. Availability and requirements vary by product.

Independent UKAS-accredited calibration
Labcal, UKAS Lab 0625
Labcal provides calibration services for suitable instruments from any manufacturer, including equipment used alongside Gill products. Its accredited scope covers gas and air flow, liquid flow, pressure, temperature, humidity and air velocity.
Calibration is performed at Labcal’s laboratory in Lymington, with certificates issued under its accredited scope where applicable.
Send your instruments and get your UKAS certificates back in 7 working days on average. Trusted by quality managers in pharma, aerospace, defence, research and the public sector.
When does an instrument need UKAS-accredited calibration?
UKAS-accredited calibration matters when you need independent evidence of an instrument’s measurement performance: for an audit, a compliance requirement, a regulated process or a customer’s quality records. Labcal is UKAS-accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, and the accreditation applies to a defined scope, so check the parameter, range and method before commissioning calibration.
An instrument may perform as expected, but some applications also require independent evidence of its measurement performance.
This can matter when preparing for an audit, demonstrating compliance, supporting a regulated process or maintaining the quality records required by a customer.
UKAS accreditation provides independent assessment of a laboratory’s competence against ISO/IEC 17025. It applies to a defined scope, so the relevant parameter, range and method must be checked before calibration is commissioned.
Calibration across six parameters
Labcal’s accredited calibration services cover gas and air flow, liquid flow, air velocity, pressure, temperature and humidity.
The service is available for suitable equipment from Gill and other manufacturers, subject to the laboratory’s accredited scope.

Calibration, servicing and repair
Calibration, product testing and repair serve different purposes. Calibration assesses and records measurement performance. Servicing or repair addresses an instrument that needs attention. Product testing forms part of the relevant manufacturing and quality processes.
If a Gill instrument needs attention during its working life, the Gill support team can advise on the appropriate route. If you need independent UKAS-accredited calibration for an instrument, Labcal can confirm whether it falls within its scope.

Calibration questions
UKAS calibration is calibration performed by a laboratory accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service, the UK’s national accreditation body. Accreditation confirms the laboratory is competent to carry out the calibrations in its scope to ISO/IEC 17025. Labcal, part of the Gill Group, is UKAS Lab 0625.
ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 means an accreditation body has independently assessed the laboratory’s methods, traceability, uncertainty and quality management for a defined scope. Labcal operates to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Measurement traceability is the property of a measurement result being linked to a national or international standard through a documented, unbroken chain of calibrations, each with a stated uncertainty. It allows a result to be compared and trusted independently of the instrument that produced it.
There is no single correct interval for anemometer calibration. It depends on the instrument, how and where it is used, its calibration history and the requirements of the application or standard it supports. The interval should be set by the user’s quality system, informed by the instrument’s performance between calibrations.
Yes. Labcal calibrates suitable equipment from Gill and from other manufacturers across six parameters: gas and air flow, liquid flow, air velocity, pressure, temperature and humidity, within its accredited scope.
Calibration traceable to national standards is available as an option on the standard WindObserver models, the 65, 70, 75, 90 and II. WindObserver IS, which uses a certified hazardous-area architecture, has factory calibration traceable to national standards, but individual calibration certificates are not available. Availability varies across the Gill range, so check the documentation for the product concerned.
