Five questions for Wayne
Tell us a little about what you do at Gill.
I recently joined Gill as an Electronics Engineer. My role involves designing and developing electronic hardware for a range of products, turning technical requirements and ideas into practical, reliable solutions.
What excites you most about Gill and your role here?
What excites me most is working in an industry that never stands still. Applications are becoming smarter and performance requirements more demanding, so there are always new technical challenges to solve, technologies to learn and opportunities to contribute new ideas.
How do you see the industry changing in the next five years?
I expect to see greater use of connected systems, cloud-based platforms and AI-driven technology to analyse data and support decision-making. Products will become increasingly intelligent and connected, while accuracy, reliability, security and energy efficiency will remain essential.
Who has inspired you the most in your career, and what did you learn from them?
I have been inspired by the leaders and mentors I have worked with throughout my career. They taught me that being a good engineer goes beyond technical knowledge, it also requires methodical problem-solving, clear communication, effective teamwork and a willingness to keep learning.
Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.
I’m a petrolhead and an animal lover. I collect 1:64-scale model cars from a variety of brands, and I also have a little furry companion called Marble, my calico cat.
