WO WS for Wind Turbine control
Wind turbines need to be steered into the wind, with the blades controlled according to the wind strength to ensure maximum efficiency. To achieve this, an anemometer is placed at the top of each wind turbine, forming a key control function for the wind turbine. As Wind farms are often situated in remote on-shore and off-shore locations, it is important to select an anemometer for the wind turbine that will be accurate and reliable, with little to no maintenance required.
Installations
WindObserver, WindSonic and WindSonicM are supplied to many wind turbines manufacturers worldwide including UK, Japan, Germany, Spain and USA. The WindSonic and WindSonicM are chosen for smaller, lower output wind turbines. The WindObserver70 & WindObserver75 is chosen for more extreme environments as it offers the enhanced heating option to combat extreme icing conditions.
Why Gill?
Gill’s anemometers are extensively chosen for projects in the wind energy market due to our reputation for high quality, easy installation and above all, for our solid-state construction, which offers huge advantages over other mechanical instruments as they require no regular maintenance. All Gill anemometers also provide an automatic quality message, giving confidence that data received is valid and can be trusted.
