LEGACY WEATHER STATION
MetPak and MetPak Pro: Support continues
MetPak and MetPak Pro, what they measure, and what replaces them on a new installation

- Legacy, still supportedDocumentation and engineering support for installed MetPak stations
- Current datasheetsMetPak 1723-0009 Iss 7, MetPak Pro 1723-0011 Iss 9
- New site, one housingSpecify MaxiMet, the compact integrated station
- New site, sensors apartSpecify MetConnect for separate heights and your own sensors
Why this page exists
A legacy station is not an unsupported one
MetPak is a legacy range and is no longer available for new orders. MetConnect replaces it; manuals, software and calibration support remain. It is still on masts, still reporting, and still supported, so this page is here to help you identify what you have, find the documentation for it, and see what the current equivalent would be.
MetPak sits between the compact MaxiMet, where everything lives in one housing, and the fully separable MetConnect. It was built around WindSonic ultrasonic wind measurement with reference-quality temperature, humidity and barometric pressure. MetPak Pro adds rainfall and solar radiation, and takes up to four external measurement devices.
WindSonic ultrasonic wind
0 to 60 m/s, with no moving parts in the wind measurement.
Reference-quality T/H/P
Temperature, humidity and barometric pressure on both models.
Rainfall and solar on Pro
MetPak Pro adds rainfall and solar radiation.
Four external inputs on Pro
Up to four external measurement devices on MetPak Pro.
Legacy range
Two MetPak models, kept here for the installed base
These models exist on this site so owners can identify what they have and find support. For a new installation, MaxiMet or MetConnect is the current answer.

MetPak
The reference-quality core station, measuring wind, temperature, humidity and pressure.

MetPak Pro
The core station with rainfall, solar and four external sensor inputs added.
No single MetPak does all of that. Our team can suggest a pairing.

What each model measures
| Specification | MetPak | MetPak Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Wind | WindSonic ultrasonic, 0 to 60 m/s | WindSonic ultrasonic, 0 to 60 m/s |
| Temperature, humidity, pressure | Yes, reference quality | Yes, reference quality |
| Rainfall | None | Yes |

| Ingress protection | IP65 | IP65 |
| Datasheet | 1723-0009 Iss 7 | 1723-0011 Iss 9 |
The measurement sets and the ingress rating are taken from the current released datasheets. Accuracy, power and the external input types are on those datasheets and should be quoted from them rather than from a web page. MetPak is IP65, not the IP66 or IP68 of the marine MaxiMet models, so check the rating against the site before assuming a like-for-like swap.

Moving on from MetPak
The current equivalent depends on why the sensors are where they are
If the reason for MetPak Pro was the four external inputs, say so on your enquiry. That requirement is what decides between MaxiMet and MetConnect, and it is the one most often left out.

When the whole measurement can sit in one housing
- The direct successor for a single-mast MetPak
- Covers the MetPak parameter set and more
- GMX551 adds rainfall and solar radiation in the same unit

When the sensors need to sit apart
- Sensors at different heights for WMO-compliant siting
- A heated anemometer mounted remotely, on MetConnect THP
- Third-party Pt100, analogue and contact closure inputs
