Gill certified to ISO 45001
Gill is certified to ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management, alongside its existing ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification.
Key takeaways
- Gill is certified to ISO 45001, the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
- It sits alongside ISO 9001 for quality and ISO 14001 for environmental management.
- Certification is audited, so it is a check on how the factory actually runs, not a statement of intent.
What ISO 45001 covers
ISO 45001 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It requires an organisation to identify the hazards in its own operations, put controls in place, involve the workforce in doing so, and then demonstrate through audit that the system is working and improving.
How it sits with the other certifications
Gill holds three management system certifications, and they answer three different questions on a supplier assessment:
- ISO 9001, quality management. Whether the product you receive matches the product you specified, consistently.
- ISO 14001, environmental management. How the environmental impact of manufacture is identified and reduced.
- ISO 45001, occupational health and safety management. How the people who build the instruments are kept safe.
Why it appears on tender documents
Procurement teams in energy, defence, transport and construction increasingly require health and safety certification from their supply chain, not only from contractors on site. Holding ISO 45001 removes a qualification step and, where a tender scores it, contributes to the score.
What this means
Gill is certified to ISO 45001, the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems, alongside ISO 9001 for quality and ISO 14001 for environmental management. All three are independently audited, which is why they are accepted as supply chain evidence on tender documents.
