2-AXIS ULTRASONIC ANEMOMETER

WindSonic M

The metal-bodied, heated WindSonic.

WindSonic M replaces the ASA/PC body with hard-anodised aluminium alloy and adds heating, extending the operating range to minus 40 degrees C. It is the WindSonic for exposed and cold installations where the standard body and unheated build are not enough.

BEFORE YOU SPECIFY

Is the WindSonic M the correct configuration?

Before specifying, confirm:

  • the wind speed range the site actually sees
  • the output rate the receiving system needs
  • the operating temperature and whether heating is required
  • any approval or certification the installation demands
  • the mounting arrangement and cable or connector choice
  • the interface and output the receiving system expects

If those match, the WindSonic M provides that configuration.

QUESTIONS

Specification questions about the WindSonic M

What wind speed range does the WindSonic M cover?

The WindSonic M measures 0 to 60 m/s (116 knots).

What is the difference between the WindSonic M and the WindSonic 60?

The WindSonic M has a hard-anodised aluminium alloy body and is heated, so it operates from -40 °C to +70 °C. The WindSonic 60 has an ASA/PC polymer body, is unheated and operates from -35 °C to +70 °C. The WindSonic M weighs 0.9 kg against 0.5 kg.

How accurate is the WindSonic M?

The WindSonic M is specified at wind speed ±2% RMSE at 12 m/s, direction ±2° RMSE at 12 m/s.

What resolution does the WindSonic M report?

The WindSonic M reports to 0.01 m/s, starting threshold 0.01 m/s.

What outputs does the WindSonic M provide?

The WindSonic M provides RS232, RS422, RS485 depending on option, with ASCII and NMEA 0183 protocols; analogue 0 to 5 V, 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA.

What power supply does the WindSonic M need?

The WindSonic M requires 10 to 30 V DC, or 24 V RMS AC ±10% at 50/60 Hz.

What temperature range does the WindSonic M operate over?

The WindSonic M operates from -40 °C to +70 °C.

What ingress protection does the WindSonic M have?
