COMPACT WEATHER STATION
MaxiMet GMX550
The compact station with rainfall, without solar.
GMX550 is GMX500 with rainfall added, offered as optical or tipping bucket. It is built in UV-stabilised thermoplastic and measures pressure to 1250 hPa. Because it accepts a tipping-bucket input, it is one of the two MaxiMet models that the TruMet PW100 optical rain gauge can drive.

Ultrasonic wind sensing
Heating optional, to -40°C
Temperature, RH and pressure
Pressure up to 1250 hPa
Rainfall, optical or bucket
Tipping-bucket input for TruMet
One cable, optional GPS
Single output string, IP66
WHERE IT SITS
MaxiMet GMX550 in the MaxiMet range
The MaxiMet GMX550 is the appropriate configuration where the requirement is wind speed and direction, air temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, rainfall, and the parameters it does not carry are provided elsewhere or not needed.
MEASUREMENT
What the MaxiMet GMX550 measures
The MaxiMet GMX550 is configured to measure wind speed and direction, air temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, rainfall. The MaxiMet GMX550 does not measure solar radiation.
HEATING
What the heating option actually does
Heating on the MaxiMet range is transducer-only and draws around 7 W. It keeps the ultrasonic transducers clear, and it is not equivalent to the full-sensor heating offered on WindSonic M or the WindObserver range.
Where the application involves severe or persistent icing, that is a WindObserver requirement rather than a MaxiMet one.
RAINFALL OPTIONS
Optical, tipping bucket, or TruMet
Rainfall on this model is offered as optical or tipping bucket. Because it accepts a tipping-bucket input, it is one of only two MaxiMet models that the TruMet PW100 infrared optical rain gauge can drive, using its one pulse per 0.1 mm output.

BEFORE YOU SPECIFY
Is the MaxiMet GMX550 the correct configuration?
Before specifying, confirm:
- the parameters the application actually requires
- whether wind is needed at this location or measured elsewhere
- the operating temperature and whether heating is required
- the ingress protection the installation demands
- the mounting arrangement and available space
- the interface and output the receiving system expects
If those match the specification above, the MaxiMet GMX550 provides that configuration at 0.7 kg.
